The project involves the creation of a private garden for a recently renovated villa in Naples, located in a privileged area of the Posillipo neighborhood, right by the sea.
The landscape intervention, designed by Architect Marta Fegiz with my collaboration, was developed in close synergy with the architectural renovation led by Architect Giuliano Andrea Dell’Uva.
Considering the proximity to the sea and the mild Mediterranean climate of the area, the plant selection was oriented toward tropical and subtropical species capable of adapting to the local environmental conditions.
The large existing tuff wall was softened by cladding it with Moroccan zellige tiles and integrating it with a large water basin, accompanied by teak wood decking laid directly on the existing lawn, without the need for cement or excavation. This approach allowed for easy integration of new pathways and functional areas with the pre-existing landscape.
The design focused on creating fluid and welcoming spaces, with shaded relaxation areas and pathways bordered by tropical plants like Alocasias, philodendrons, and monstera, combined with minimalist architectural elements. This ensured a balance between lush nature and contemporary design.
